Cheryl Jensen is the eighth president of Algonquin College. She joined Algonquin from Mohawk College, where she held the title of Vice President, Academic for five years. Jensen first came to Mohawk as a Chemical Engineering Technology professor in 1983 and has served as Dean, Executive Dean, and Vice President of Engineering Technology, Apprenticeship and Corporate Training. She was instrumental in the development and launch of Canada’s first Bachelor of Technology collaborative degree program with McMaster University and the award-winning Hydro One – College Consortium. Jensen also championed the development of award winning integrated technician apprenticeship programs and led the $27 million transformation of the Mohawk College Stoney Creek campus – the home of the College’s skilled trades and apprenticeship programs.

President Jensen has served on many community Boards. She was Chair of the Skills Canada Ontario Board of Directors and served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors with the Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford YMCA. She was also a member of the Hamilton Community Foundation for four years. Cheryl is the recipient of a Hamilton YWCA Woman of Distinction award and a national leadership award from the Association of Canadian Community Colleges.

Jensen graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Certificate in the Metallurgy of Iron and Steel, and holds a Master of Education in Organizational and Administrative Studies from Brock University.
