Won Kim is the founding principal of Kim Orr Barristers and one of Canada’s preeminent class actions litigators. Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Civil Litigation, Kim’s expertise is recognized by his peers by rankings in Benchmark Canada, the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and in the Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-border Litigation Lawyers, the most discerning publications to legal talent in Canada.
Kim is a frequent lecturer in Canada and the US on class actions and litigation-related matters. Since 1994 he has served as Editor-In-Chief of Canadian Cases on the Law of Insurance. In 2011, and in association with Thomson Westlaw, Kim launched the Kim Orr Class Action Monitor, a bi-weekly reporter that provides updates and commentary on developments in the Canadian class actions bar. The Monitor is widely available in both print and online format in Canada, the US and internationally.
Kim is the Past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Ontario Museum and is the founding director of the Korean Canadian Lawyers Association.
