Terry Moran is a public servant who has worked for more than 40 years with the state and federal levels of the Australian government. Between March 2008 and September 2011, Moran was the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet – the most senior position in Australia’s public service. He worked under two prime ministers during this period after Kevin Rudd personally requested he take up the role. During his time at the department, Moran helped develop the economic stimulus package used in response to the global financial crisis and help Australia avoid falling into a recession.

Moran is no longer with the department, but maintains a presence in a range of public groups, community organisations and private businesses. These include being a member of the Melbourne Theatre Company board, a member of the Nexus Primary Care Board, a Senior Adviser at Maddocks Law Firm and Chair of Grattan Institute Public Policy Committee.

Moran also sits as the chairman of the Barangaroo Development Authority, a body that is examining the ways in which the New South Wales government can bring development to the Barangaroo area in Sydney’s central business district. The project is expected to cost $6b to provide offices for 23,000 people and amenities for 33,000 visitors each day.
