David Moffat has 30 years’ experience as an executive and public company director in telecommunications, financial services, technology retailing and industrial products.
Moffat was CEO of GE and GE Capital, Australia and New Zealand, for 8 years in the late 1990s. He joined Telstra in February 2001 as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Group Managing Director, Finance and Administration. He was on the boards of the Telstra-affiliated businesses Foxtel, CSL (Hong Kong) and Reach (Hong Kong), and was responsible for Telstra’s Consumer Business. In 2012, he became CEO of Lebara, one of Europe’s leading mobile telecoms operators, and he remains as an advisor to the Board of Lebara Mobile. He moved to a position of Chairman of the mobile company Asurion, Asia Pacific, which services over 100 million consumers for 18 of the world’s leading telecommunication’s companies. He has received several awards for his work in the telecoms industry, including Australian Telecom Industry CFO of the Year.
Moffat served as Foundation Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee for Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre from 2003 to 2012. He is as Chairman of The Lost Battlefield Trust, which is working with local people to develop a management plan for site of a significant battle in the 1942 Kokoda Military campaign in Papa New Guinea.
He is actively involved in many other community organisations, including directorships of the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Non-Profit Studies and the Giant Steps Foundation, a charity working to assist children and families experiencing autism.
