Alan James is Chairman of Macquarie Capital’s energy infrastructure group, which includes oil and gas midstream, utility, power and renewable sectors in the Americas. He is an energy and infrastructure specialist, with experience across principal investment, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital markets, and originating transactions for the Macquarie’s infrastructure funds.
With more than 25 years of experience in Asia, Europe and the Americas, he has extensive relationships with industry, government, banks and equity (private equity, infrastructure, pension and sovereign funds) around the world.
Before joining Macquarie in New York in 2005, Mr James was Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking in Australia and New Zealand for Citigroup (2002-2005) and Deutsche Bank (1991-2002). Over the past decade, James has led more than $35 billion in transactions.
Mr James has delivered public addresses and authored papers on various subjects in corporate finance, privatisation, renewable energy, and sectors including utilities, infrastructure, energy and earth science. He is an honours graduate from the University of Sydney.
