Dr Athalia Molokomme is Botswana’s first female attorney general and a widely respected scholar. She has authored an extensive list of research projects and publications that deal in the fields of family law, women and law, customary law and employment law. Over the last 20 years, Dr Molokomme has been a regular advocate for women’s rights at conferences, workshops and seminars in Botswana and abroad. She has served on many boards to help meet the same end, drawing from her years as a university lecturer, judge and attorney general.
Dr Molokomme is a founding member of the Emang Basadi, a lobbying group that calls on governments, the private sector and political parties to include women in positions of power and decision-making. She is also a founding member of the Women and Law Society in Southern Africa and Women, Law and Development International. Dr Molokomme is described by her peers as great leader and someone who is always willing to go the extra mile to give advice to a co-worker.
As part of Dūcere’s Global Leaders Faculty, Dr Molokomme shares her experiences in creating and leveraging strong partnerships in the public, private, political and social settings.
